Description:
This rather modern oil captures the well known Phinikoudes seafront of the town of Larnaca. An array of old tall palm trees extended parallel to the sea and formed the quay along which the inhabitants of Larnaca strolled in the afternoon. Halfway, one can encounter the bust of Cimon, the Athenian admiral whose death was concealed in order to bring about the defeat of the Persian fleet just outside Larnaca. A series of cranes appear lined up on the pier ready to unload the merchandise off boats approaching the coast. A number of manmade shacks offer shade to customers enjoying their refreshments or coffee. Passers by include people in both modern and rural attires.
