Description:

The engraving of the painting after Titian is one of the most well-known. It is believed that Titian used his sister as the sitter of the portrait and chose to portray Caterina as queen of Cyprus during the years after the death of her husband James the second. There are three paintings circulated of Caterina Cornaro in this posture with small differences all of the early 16th century.
