Description:
A marine and aircraft artist, Roy Nocholds made many posters of the Second World War. He visited Cyprus in 1949 and painted the first Cyprus airways aircraft flying over Kyrenia town. The poster bears the emblem of the two passant lions of the British Empire. It was produced in an effort to promote transport and tourism to Cyprus by the British government which by that time had started facing difficulties by local reaction to British rule. The castle of Kyrenia features prominently in the picture.
