Description:
The oblong painting invites the viewer through a cobbled lane into a village by the sea. It is probably one of the villages in the north part of the island. It appears isolated and quiet stretching from the top of the hill down to the seashore. Cypress trees are to be found all over Cyprus to the point where often travellers attributed the name of the island to the trees. Olive groves are found mostly in the north part of the island but olive trees are traditionally planted in the gardens and surroundings of all villages, providing the owners with their annual needs of olive and oil. The painting enjoys the bright light of the Cypriot sky and the tranquil atmosphere.
