Description:

Bellini was part of queen Caterina's court at Asolo, and believed to have been the only artist who painted the queen from life. Caterina is portrayed towards the end of her life, a mature woman, and overweight and with a sad expression on her face. She looks tired and weathered by life and rather contemplative. The original of the engraving remains in Budapest.
