Phocion Demetriades, known also as Phocos, was one of the most celebrated cartoonists in Greece. He was born in Istanbul, worked at the National Bank of Greece and he was a schoolbook illustrator. He was primarily a political cartoonist known for associating Greek Prime Minister Tsatsos with a hen (to poulli tou, a pun on the word ‘bird’ to mean ‘cock’).
