Open Call Announcement: Tuesday, 5 August 2025
Deadline for Submissions: Friday, 5 September 2025
The Centre of Visual Arts & Research in collaboration with the JELO6 Project Cyprus, invites artists working in the fields of jewellery, ceramics, and object-making to participate in Tradition Reimagined — a unique exhibition exploring Cypriot history through contemporary artistic lenses.
The Project
Artists are invited to create new works inspired by selected historical costumes from the CVAR museum collection. Each artist will be assigned one pair of costumes (male and female) and respond to it by creating either:
• an accessory or adornment that could accompany, complement, or enhance the costume, or
• an object inspired by its story, form, quality of textile, color, or symbolism.
The exhibition will celebrate the dialogue between heritage and contemporary creativity, showcasing how the past can inspire bold new interpretations in material form.
