The American missionary Lorenzo Warriner Pease on his visit to Alethricon village refers to the kindness of the Aga and his family:

All went to Alethricon and were much benefited from the ride. Both Mrs. Pease and Sarah slept better, and Sarah’s eye (which was inflamed) was much improved. The Aga and family received us with kindness as usual. He has repaired his house admirably.
