Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs, was preparing for the Christmas party organised for his scouts and for the children of the Police force and of the employees at Government House:

All morning getting ready for my party which was held in the Magic Palace. There were 100 children, mostly children of zaptiehs, but also some other. First of all we had a cinema of Charlie Chaplin, for 1 1/2 hours. Then tea, each child having four crackers and a bag of sweets, then call each child and each got a present.
