Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs, had a busy April:

After early lunch and then into uniform. Down in state to the opening of the Legislative Council. HE’s speech took 38 minutes, he only read about 1/3 of it. Back here and changed and down to Turkish sports, acted as judge. Sortsios came to see me in the evening and told me an attempt had been made to poison the Bishop of Paphos by one of his deacons! The reason being that the bishop had cut the deacon’s wages.
