Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Governor Ronald Storrs, was up to his escapades again:

Left the Rookes and to Ayia Napa, a bad road but such a charming monastery, one of the best in Cyprus, the windows having an almost baroque design. Lunch near Paralimni and then to Engomi where I collected a sarcophagus and put in the back of the car, much to the amusement of the village. Lights failed near Lefkoniko so spent the night in the police station.
