Lorenzo Warriner Pease, the American missionary, was in the vicinity of Larnaca:

We took dinner at the chiflick of the widow of Mr Hava, about an hour and a half from here. The gardens are very extensive. On the confines of it is a church built 105 years ago by a wealthy person It had the usual quantity of pictures. In addition, it had the likeness of the builder and his family, standing near the picture of the church, offering it to St George, who is reaching from its roof, and praying for his intercession and protection. The dedication and prayers are written on each side. We did not have time or we would have been glad to have taken the language of the writing. The day was excessively hot, we remained till dark and then returned by moonlight.
