ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs Rupert Gunnis visited the caves at Ayia Paraskevi, in the suburbs of Nicosia, where he had discovered a number of Bronze Age tombs:

After lunch started on tomb no.5, a most interesting tomb. Firstly it was an Early Bronze Age tomb, re-used in the Late Bronze Age. We found 120 objects, nearly all Late Bronze Age Minoan pottery but several red polished Early Bronze Age bowls. We also found a good Hittite cylinder and a few glass paste beads. A most amazing sight, so much pottery in such a small tomb. It was only half cleared when darkness fell.
