View from Adah

Creator:

Davy, George Mark Oswald

Tarih:

1959

Description:

Taking the turn on the mountain from the Nicosia road to Kyrenia, on the left hand side and under Saint Hilarion Castle, is the house of Sir Henry and Lady Blackall, first Attorney General of Cyprus. The house was named Adah çiftlik because it stood in a property bound by two rivers, hence Adah, meaning island in Turkish. It was built in the late 1930s and commanded one of the most spectacular views of Kyrenia down to the sea. It was surrounded by woods and thick vegetation. The painting was commissioned by Lady Blackall.
