Description:
The Illustrated London News sent special artists to portray the island of Cyprus in 1878. It also used sketches by military personnel based on the island in order to introduce the new acquisition to the British public. Samuel Passfield Oliver reports on his visit to Trikomo village where he was received by the chief agriculturalist and merchant Mr Michael. The engraving depicts his house near the church of St. Iakovos in the village.
