Street Scene

Places:

Cyprus

Description:

The mountain range in the background of the picture could be that of the Kyrenia mountain range. A wide road is framed on the left by a long wall which could only be a modern construction built by one of Cyprus’ public utilities. The wall could either be the barrier of a military camp or the wall of a cemetery. Abundance of water appears on the right hand of the road. The wall, the water and the mountain range in the background remain insufficient indicators as to the identity of this location. A family of three, a villager and his wife and child are walking towards the village on flat ground which further indicates that this village is located in a plain south of the mountains. The landscape and the combination of colours emanate tranquillity and despondence.
