Description:
Stefanos Panteli drew this picture at the age of ten and being almost blind. He exhibited his watercolours and drawings at Skali, Aglanjia, where they were on sale in an effort to raise money for a serious eye operation. In a dark room, Stefanos holds Cyprus above his head, while, through the window, beams of light illuminate the shape of the island on the floor. The pastel drawing reveals the child’s relationship and bondage with his country and his innermost wish for a brighter future for his country.
