Kyrenia Harbour

Creator:

Ouless, Caterina, 1879-1961

Tarih:

ca. 1900

Description:

This is an evocative impression of Kyrenia harbour. Colour is used to accentuate the sea and two fishing boats which form the painting’s focal point. The buildings in the background are painted in sepia and speak of the quiet backwater. They allow a glimpse into the harbour’s early days. Fishing boats used to be pulled out of the water. People swam in the harbour and the narrow lane around the water’s edge was covered with sand.
