Description:

Laurence William Wilson was an artist who spent most of his life in New Zealand and must have stopped over in Cyprus on the way. He was a peripatetic painter who seemed to follow many others including Nerli with a somewhat cavalier attitude to money. He came from a family of ship owners. The watercolour is a view of Hala Sultan Tekke by the salt lake of Larnaca at sunset. It bears the typical oriental colours of pink and mauve, so often used by Oriental artists visiting the East.
