Glyn Hughes came to Cyprus in 1956. He taught art at the English school in Nicosia. In 1960, along with the Cypriot artist Christoforos Savva, he started Apophasis, a centre of Cypriot contemporary art. He was arts editor for the Cyprus Weekly for many years. This abstract painting of striking colours justifies its title by giving the impressions of a palm tree and a Bedouin.
