Description:
One of the popular views of the Kyrenia seashore portraying the nineteenth century shores where carobs known as the ‘black gold of Cyprus’ were gathered. From there, carobs were loaded on ships from a pier a few meters further afar and exported to Smyrna, Beirut and Marseille. Behind the stores, stands the nineteenth century church of Archangel Michael and, to the far right, the mass of orange colour corresponds to the Kyrenia castle. Done by an amateur artist, the watercolour is not precise in its topography.
