Piedro Valderio, in his book La Guerra di Cipro, describes a few moments of the siege of Famagusta:

Our enemy put up a great stronghold at the well of St George, from where they bombarded the city with 5 huge cannons. From there they began aiming at the city and the cortina of Andruzzi with two cannons, one of 50 and the other of 100, but our men responded against their strongholds and caused them much damage. When they stopped the bombardment a Turk who had escaped, said that wherever the enemy appeared it was hit by our defenders and thus half of the enemy’s army which came from Nicosia was destroyed. On that day the best engineers of the enemy were killed.
