Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs, was busy with social events, be these sports or theatre productions:

To see the Police shouting for their cup at Athalassa first of all. The depot won in the end. Then both of us down to Larnaca and lunch with the Pophams. A very amusing American Consul General called Wilson there. Then to the sports between the English School and the American Academy. I was a judge, a good deal of argument about various events. The E.S. won in the end.

In the evening to see a Greek company giving a rendering of Macbeth, very credible on the whole and the actress Kotopouli gave a very fine rendering of the sleep-walking scene. She spoke as if she was really speaking in her sleep not the usual clear and faultless enunciation that one is used to from English actresses in that scene.
