Torben Haglund Collection
The Torben Haglund collection contains 196 colour photographs dating to the period 1976 – 1978, mainly focusing on the service of the soldiers of the United Nations Danish Contingent (UNFICYP – DanCon), with some scenes of Nicosia and Famagusta at the time. Torben Haglund was born in Copenhagen in 1951. He joined the Danish army in 1973 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1974 and Staff Sergeant in 1977. He was stationed in Cyprus as a member of the United Nations Danish Contingent from May 1976 to November 1977 and eventually left the army in 1979.
The images that comprise the online collection were reproduced from the original colour prints. The titles were taken from inscriptions to the photographs when available that justify inconsistencies to the depicted image. Where no inscriptions were available the titles were generated by the cataloguer describing the depicted subject. In 2021 Torben Haglund donated his collection to the CVAR to be exhibited and studied. The CVAR holds printed reproductions of the originals and shares copyrights with Torben Haglund.
