Title: Letter sent to England by John Carne
Description: Entire letter written from Larnaca to England written by the traveller John Carne with interesting contents describing his travels in the Holy Land, Syria and Cyprus , the letter endorsed “par voie de Genes” and handstamped “P. PAYE PARIS” IN RED, charged “1/11”. The reverse endorsed “vous aurez la complaisance de payer au corespontant de Messrs Laffite Cie Brs de Paris le pais de poste quils vu serais fiches- Chypre le 2 Juin 1822, Ge Psychoris”, with datestamps of London and Liverpool. Psychoris was then British Consul in Cyprus. A couple of small stains, otherwise fine and an interesting letter.
