The American missionary Lorenzo Warriner Pease visited Salamis

The American missionary Lorenzo Warriner Pease visited Salamis:

We yesterday engaged in the examination of the ruins of Salamis. Having passed by the ancient underground prison we arrived at ruins where the aqueduct waters of the city. The aqueduct is said to have brought water from Kythrea. I do not know what is the evidence, I have never heard or found any traces for that than a few arches, which remain standing on the plain. Might the water not have come from wells as at Nicosia or Scala? We immediately came to the ruins of a wall. Which reached for a considerable distance each way and then was lost. It seemed however to enclose a small part of the city only.
