Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Governor Ronald Storrs, checked on the newly discovered statue of Septimius Severus before heading to the boxing ring:

Lady S and I left early to Nicosia. Spent some time in the museum. Stuart from Cairo is cleaning the bronze statue of Septimius Severus, quite well I thought though he is not so successful in joining the pieces together. To dinner with Gallagher and afterwards to see the boxing. A very good open ring and about 1500 people present, first six fights between army and navy, then a fight between a Greek and a Turk for the championship of the Orient, fifteen rounds, rather too much foul fighting on both sides.
